Website with no www

Hi, my journal website URL has no www. at the beginning. The URL is just https://[myjournaldomain].org
Adding www. breaks the link.

The web deposit form doesn’t allow this and throws the error:
“Please correctly enter the following fields: *Article URL must be valid. Protocol (http, https)://www.domain.com/pageID”

Is there a way around this without reconfiguring our site with our hosting company?

Thanks!

Hi, and thanks for your question.

That error message is a little confusing. The problem isn’t the lack of ‘www’. It’s the fact that you’re supplying just the top-level domain as a landing page URL.

Typically articles (and even issues) aren’t going to be hosted on https://myjournaldomain.org
They’ll be hosted on something like https://myjournaldomain.org/issue3/article2.html

So, we want to discourage the use of top-level domains as landing page URLs, since they’re usually incorrect.

If you’re supplying a Journal DOI in lieu of an ISSN (they’re not required, or especially useful, if you have an ISSN), my first recommendation would be to get an ISSN, and just delay your DOI registration until you have one. But, if you don’t want to wait, and the only reasonable landing page for your journal DOI is that top-level domain, the workaround is just to put a slash at the end.

So, this won’t be allowed by the form:
https://myjournaldomain.org

But this will:
https://myjournaldomain.org/

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi Shayn, thanks for your answer! I actually had it formatted correctly, the problem was that the landing page wasn’t published yet facepalm. Once I published it it worked!

Thanks again!
