ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed

I’m receiving the following message when I send to the test site and the main registration site: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target

I haven’t seen this error message before and I’ve registered more than 3000 DOIs. Is this a temporary issue, or do I need to update my code to connect to your system. Thanks,

Hi @mpalmquist ,

Thanks for your message. We did update our certificates yesterday for *.crossref.org and *.eventdata.crossref.org. If you are still receiving these errors, you should consider updating your local certificate library to include the letsencrypt root certificate.

Yes. They resolved the issue and the email messages are being sent again.
