Registering Large Quantities

Is there an option to register DOIs in large quantities (100+), using the Web Deposit Form?

Hi Michelle,

Thanks for your question.

It depends what you mean. There’s no ‘bulk’ or shortcut option. No matter what you’re registering on the web deposit form, you still have to key or copy-paste in each piece of metadata that you’re submitting.

If you have a book with 100 chapters, a conference proceedings with 100 conference papers, or a journal issue with 100 articles, you could theoretically submit the metadata for each of those 100 items in one submission.

But, I wouldn’t recommend it. If anything goes wrong with the submission (and there are various ways that submissions can fail), you’ll have to go back and re-enter everything again.

If, for example, you have a book with 100 chapters, it would be better to split those submissions up into batches. You will need to re-enter the book-level metadata each time, because that’s required to register book chapters, but you can pick up from wherever you left off from the prior deposit in entering the next chapters.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best,
Shayn
