We are hosting a half-day event on Thursday, 22 June, in Copenhagen. We’d love for you to join us as this will be our first in-person event in the region. We have a growing number of members and dedicated metadata API users, and the region’s library and open science communities are very active.

We aim to strengthen our relationships with our members and affiliates in the region, including publishers, libraries, funders, and metadata users. We hope to raise awareness of Crossref for prospective members as well as the repository and library communities.

During the event, Crossref staff and guest speakers will be discussing:

  • Crossref’s vision and goals and our adoption of the Principles of Open Scholarly Infrastructure (POSI)
  • The Research Nexus and connecting scholarly metadata for open science: linking through identifiers, grant IDs, data citation, and our relationships API
  • The benefits of DOIs, ORCIDs, and other persistent identifiers
  • Best practice metadata: its use in the integrity of the scholarly record, grants and funding metadata, references and abstracts
  • Managing retractions

The event will be held at the NH Collection Copenhagen. We will start with a welcome coffee at 8:30 am and begin the presentations at 9 am. Lunch will be provided during the event.

There is no cost for attending the event, but we ask that people register as space is limited. You may find registration information here.

We hosted our first in-person event in Copenhagen on 22 June. We welcomed attendees from the library, publishing, and research communities, as well as colleagues from our strategic partners, DOAJ and PKP.

Crossref staff Ginny Hendricks, Ed Pentz, and Susan Collins presented a range of topics including our mission, goals, and membership trends, the Research Nexus, metadata best practice, and Crossref’s role in the integrity of the scholarly record. Guest speaker Karen Sofie Hytteballe Ibanez, from the Technical University of Denmark, discussed the Research Portal Denmark.

The group was very interactive with questions and discussions about Crossrer services, metadata use, preprints, resources for new members, and integrations with OJS to name a few. These in-person discussions are valuable to us as we are able to learn more about the varied ways our members engage with the scholarly research community.
