Every Crossref member has at least one assigned DOI prefix, and those prefixes are usually linked to a role credential or user-role credential(s).
To make a successful deposit, the publisher who is depositing the DOI content should ensure that they include the correct deposit credentials when making the deposit, and these deposit credentials include the correct username and set password and need to have permissions against the prefix that the DOI is being registered against or the prefix against the DOI in the background.
At one point or another, some members might have received the below error message when attempting to deposit their content:
<msg>User not allowed to add or modify records for prefix: 10.5555</msg>
There are some possible case scenarios why one can receive such an error message, and they include:
- Member account has been suspended
- Member attempting to make deposits for a prefix that the username does not have permissions against.
These case scenarios do apply when the depositor role that they have used to submit that deposit does not have deposit rights/ permissions to deposit DOIs beginning with the prefix present in their submission (for example their correct assigned prefix is 10.5555
, and in their deposit they want to register content for prefix 10.5000
). To correct this error, please confirm that you are using the correct prefix and deposit credentials for that deposits prefix.
If your account is suspended, then you will have to reach out to us to discuss the reason for the suspension. You can find the usual reasons for account suspension here. Also, if your account is suspended, then the main contacts on your Crossref member account should already have been made aware of this.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions or need assistance by making a new post here in the Community Forum. Or, if you’d prefer to contact us privately, send an email to support@crossref.org
Thanks!
