Hi there! Big fan of the Crossref Event service.
I noticed that the Twitter data was removed a couple years ago. An open alternative for microblogging discussion and comments is the Bluesky system, built on the AT Protocol (atproto). There is an open no-cost “firehose” of content in the network that folks can subscribe to. The Bluesky network is smaller than Twitter, but has had reasonable adoption in some specific academic disciplines, and has grown to be roughly the same size as the Fediverse (another alternative).
If there is interest, i’d be happy to share pointers to documentation and existing software SDKs for working with the atproto firehose, and microblog “post” content in particular, and could do an email thread or video chat with engineers.
