Our colleague, Martin Eve, recently examined citations in scholarly work. He introduced the idea of ‘scholarship based on faith’—where a citation’s source isn’t easily accessible to the reader.
With the growth of AI it complicates the understanding of traditional versus faith-based citations, pointing out the potential areas for improvement in current metadata systems.
Citations lose credibility when academic resources are hard to find. His perspective is that a more open and global academic environment is essential. We’re happy to share his post here for discussion.
