If you are considering using the OJS ORCID plugin, here is some information that may be helpful:
PKP’s Documentation Interest Group is in the process of improving documentation about all of OJS’s various plugins, as currently documentation is dispersed across various locations and can be difficult to find. In my own notes about the plugin I have these instructions:
After you have obtained an API key from ORCID, you can enable and configure the plugin in OJS:
- Go to Website Settings > Plugins.
- Under Installed Plugins find the ORCID plugin.
- Click the box to the right of it to enable it.
- Click the blue arrow to the left of it to make “Settings” appear, then open Settings.
- Enter information about your ORCID API.
This video tutorial (in Bahasa Indonesia) also offers instructions on adding your API key to OJS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdQwnbfVhtk
Installing the plugin should be quite easy since it is included in the list of installed plugins in OJS and only needs to be enabled. If your users are not able to install the plugin, perhaps they are not using a compatible version of OJS.
If you need further assistance, you can post on the ORCID support forum: https://forum.pkp.sfu.ca/
ORCID have a very active community of users offering support on the forum and many of them have direct experience with the ORCID plugin. This will also help them build a knowledge base of questions and answers that everyone can benefit from.
